12_November 2014: A UN report on the application of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) highlights the need for greater participation by indigenous individuals and communities in UN projects and programmes relating to indigenous issues, and notes that many such initiatives, while valuable, remain “institutionally marginalized.” The report from the Secretariat of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII), titled 'Partnering with Indigenous Peoples: Experiences and Practices,' identifies examples of good practice from within the UN system during the lead-up to the 2014 World Conference on Indigenous Peoples (WCIP). continued...
