May 2011: The Organization of American States (OAS) has released a summary of its activities in celebration of the International Year of Forests.
3 May 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has published the latest issue of its UNCCD News publication. Issue 3.1 reviews the outcomes of the second special session of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST S-2) and the ninth session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 9), which took place in February 2011, in Bonn, Germany, and reviews China's anti-drought measures, among other topics.
3 May 2011: The European Commission has published a strategy for the EU to protect and improve the state of Europe's biodiversity and contribute to the 2020 global biodiversity targets.
April 2011: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has published a global review of legal and institutional frameworks for 28 transboundary surface water, groundwater and marine water systems covering the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. The report also considers climate change adaptation knowledge in the various water basins analyzed.
2 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Secretariat) has released the report of the 16th meeting of the Convention's Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP), which took place in Gland, Switzerland, from 14-18 February 2011.
April 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)/GRID-Arendal Marine Programme has released the April 2011 edition of its newsletter, including the announcement of a new collaborative project on special planning for mammal protection in which UNEP/GRID-Arendal is a partner.
27 April 2011: A report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) identifies 13 of the richest and most vulnerable places in the Arctic Ocean that should be considered for protection as summer sea ice melts and industrial activity expands into newly accessible areas. Such places include the Bering Strait, Chukchi Beaufort Coast, Barents Sea Coast and Great Siberian Polynya.
26 April 2011: In the March issue of its Monthly Bulletin of Activities, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) highlights several recent meetings and activities, including the opening for signature of the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries, including on relevant biodiversity safeguards.
26 April 2011: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has published a study, based on surveys conducted in 2009 as part of the IUCN Climate Change and Coral Reefs Working Group global coral reef resilience assessments, on resilience characteristics of the coral reefs in the Bonaire National Marine Park.
April 2011: The Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has produced the first in a series of five comprehensive educational modules on the operation of the Treaty.
