February 2011: The Growing Forest Partnership (GFP) has released the February issue of its newsletter. 22 February 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)-World Conservation Monitoring Center (WCMC), together with the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Nature Conservancy, the World Fish Center, the International Coral Reef Action Network and the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, have released a report titled “Reefs at Risk Revisited,” which highlights that 75% of the world's coral reefs are currently threatened by local and global pressures.
19 February 2011: The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has released an Opinion regarding a proposal that would allow EU member States to restrict or prohibit the cultivation in their territory of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that have been approved at EU level.
February 2011: The Environment Management Group (EMG) has presented a progress report on its work to prepare a UN system-wide rapid response and action report on drylands, with proposed options for a coherent UN-wide contribution to drylands challenges, including the implementation of the 10-year Strategic Plan of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) across the work of the UN system.
