ICCWC Partners Meet at CITES CoP 16 [viewed]
5 March 2013: The future and effectiveness of the International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC) was the main focus of a side-event hosted by ICCWC executive heads from the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Secretariat, INTERPOL, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank and the World Customs Organization (WCO). The event was held on the occasion of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP 16) to CITES.
5 March 2013: In the context of limited interventions on the ground for on-farm conservation of genetic diversity of crop varieties, Bioversity International and partners held a workshop to learn lessons on the roles of custodian farmers for conservation, use and dissemination of agricultural biodiversity. 
14 February 2013: The Global Environmental Facility (GEF) has formally launched the Small Grants Country Programme (SGP) in Saint Lucia, at Pigeon Island National Landmark, a key historic site and protected area.
27 February 2013: Naoko Ishii, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Global Environment Facility (GEF), noted the importance of a dialogue with the next generation of leaders regarding the GEF's role in transformational change during an address at the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). 
27 February 2013: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced that is providing nearly US$4.5 million in assistance to the Government of Indonesia to support conservation of threatened forest areas on Borneo.
23 February 2013: More than 50 side and social events will be hosted on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP16). Topics covered will include transnational wildlife crime, elephants, rhinos, saiga antelopes, sharks and manta rays, geckos, and snow leopards. 
20 February 2013: The Second Signatory State Meeting for the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU) convened from 19-20 February, in Manila, the Philippines, acknowledged progress in the conservation of the dugong, while four new Signatories – Bangladesh, Egypt, Somalia and Sudan – joined the MoU.
16 February 2013: Representatives from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the International Council for Exploration of the Sea, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have presented their work to scientists, experts, educators and media at a one-day conference on “Stress, Sustainability and Development of Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) during Climate Change.”
5 February 2013: An evaluation conducted by the Internal Evaluation Group (IEG) of the World Bank Group (WBG) gives mixed marks to the Bank's performance on the three objectives related to conservation, poverty alleviation and economic development set forth in its 2002 Forest Strategy.
