Event: CBD International Workshop on Financing for Biodiversity [viewed]

This UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) workshop will provide technical follow-up on the elements of the recommendation on resource mobilization, to be adopted by the fifth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation (WGRI 5) for consideration by the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP 12). It is organized with support from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Switzerland, as well as the European Commission.

GRASP Supports Gorilla's Return to the Congo [viewed]

CBD and GLISPA Launch Island "Bright Spots", Highlight Island Leadership on Biodiversity [viewed]

IDB 201422 May 2014: On the International Day of Biological Diversity, Caleb Otto, Permanent Representative of Palau to the UN, moderated an event to highlight “bright spots” of conservation leadership in small island developing States (SIDS). The event also served as the launch of a publication from the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Global Island Partnership (GLISPA), titled ‘Island bright spots in conservation and sustainability: investing, scaling and replicating in order to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.'

Event: Online Discussion Forum on the Implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety [viewed]

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this forum offers Protocol Parties, other governments and relevant organizations the opportunity to share views, experiences, and relevant information on implementing the Protocol. The forum will focus on the integration of Protocol implementation into national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) and national development policies, plans and programmes as well as resource mobilization for advancing implementation in line with the Protocol's Strategic Plan 2011-2020.

Event: Workshop on Cooperation and Coordination among the Biodiversity-Related Conventions Prior to WGRI-5 [viewed]

The UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and the UNEP Division on Environmental Law and Conventions are hosting a workshop prior to the fifth meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD) Working Group on Review of Implementation (WGRI-5). Titled 'Improving coordination and cooperation in the implementation of the biodiversity-related conventions at national and regional levels,' the workshop will encourage participants to share and discuss the preliminary findings from a questionnaire on cooperation among the six biodiversity-related multilateral environment agreements (MEAs) at the national level, and to engage in a discussion and analysis of the trends highlighted by each of the five thematic sections of the questionnaire.
