The Working Group on Article 8(j) (traditional knowledge) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is expected to continue consideration of tasks 7 (equitable benefit-sharing), 10 (development of standards and guidelines for the reporting and prevention of unlawful appropriation of traditional knowledge), 12 (exchange and dissemination of information) and 15 (repatriation of traditional knowledge) of the work programme on Article 8(j); and consider a draft plan of action on customary sustainable use, as well as the matter of terminology related to "indigenous peoples and local communities." The third meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing (ABS) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is expected to address, among others, issues related to compliance, a global multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism, the ABS clearing-house, and monitoring and reporting, and will exchange views on the state of implementation of the Protocol, and on sectoral and cross-sectoral model contractual clauses, codes of conduct and guidelines.
