21 July 2011: Under the auspices of the Lusaka Agreement Task Force and as part of the African Elephant Law Enforcement Day celebrations, the Kenya Wildlife Service and the President of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki, burned five tons of contraband ivory in an effort to draw attention to the predicament of the African elephant.

IWC 63 Postpones Decision on South Atlantic Sanctuary [viewed]

Caribbean Wetlands Initiative Discusses Ramsar Convention Implementation [viewed]

13 July 2011: The second meeting of the Caribbean Wetlands Initiative discussed the region's implementation of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention), and resulted in agreement on activities and material to be presented and disseminated during the upcoming Pan-American meeting and the 11th meeting of the contracting parties (COP 11) to the Ramsar Convention.

UNCCD Organizes Workshop on Impact Indicators for Pilot Countries [viewed]
