21 January 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has invited European parties to nominate a representative to participate in the regional workshop on national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) for European countries.
27 January 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for December 2010.
24 January 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has requested submission of views with regard to relevant safeguards in reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+).
The first formal round of climate change negotiations in 2011 include: the 16th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 16); the 14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 14); and workshops pursuant to the Cancun Agreements and to other decisions as appropriate. Preparatory meetings of the Group of 77 and China, the African Group, the small island developing States (SIDS) and the least developed countries are expected to meet from 30 March-2 April 2011.

At the First Meeting of the Technical Committee to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Agreement on the Conservation of Gorillas and their Habitats (Gorilla Agreement), topics for discussion include: gorilla range States' activities in the implementation of action plans; conservation of transboundary gorilla populations; a monitoring and reporting system; funding; and preparations for the second meeting of the Parties to the Gorilla Agreement (MOP 2).
