Event: CBD Regional Workshop for Arctic States on NBSAPs [viewed]

This workshop, convened by the CBD Secretariat in collaboration with GRID Arendal, UNEP Moscow, CAFF, WWF, and IUCN, among others, aims to bring together Arctic scientists, national biodiversity policy-makers, and other key stakeholders to review how best to integrate the urgent need for biodiversity and ecosystem-based management in the Arctic region into the post-Nagoya revision of NBSAPs, including the setting of appropriate national targets to reflect the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020.

CMS, FAO Convene Scientific Task Force on Wildlife Diseases [viewed]

July 2011: The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) - Animal Health Service brought together a Scientific Task Force on Wildlife Diseases, at a workshop in Beijing, China, in late June 2011, to seek an integrated approach to manage the health of ecosystems, wildlife, livestock and people.

Event: Caribbean Training Course on Risk Assessment of Living Modified Organisms [viewed]

Organized by the CBD Secretariat, this training course aims to enable participants to: learn about risk assessment in the context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and review the general concepts, principles and methodologies; understand the framework in which the risk assessment is conducted, the mandate of a risk assessor and how to establish an interdisciplinary teamwork in the context of risk assessment; understand the need for and use of baseline information in a risk assessment; review the format and key elements of risk assessment reports/dossiers and risk assessment summaries; develop skills in using and interpreting existing information, as well as identifying and addressing information gaps; and test the Guidance on Risk Assessment of Living Modified Organisms.
