International Sava River Basin Commission Holds Ecotourism Workshop [viewed]

31 July 2012: The International Sava River Basin Commission (ISRBC) held an international workshop on the development of ecotourism in the context of cross-border cooperation. The Commission was set up in 2004 among the Governments of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, to cooperate for the sustainable use of the Sava River's resources and improved living conditions for populations in the Basin.

27 July 2012: The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention), the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), BirdLife International, the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) and Wetlands International have published the outcomes of the 2011 Global Waterbird Flyways Workshop, which was convened by the EAAFP Secretariat in Seosan City, Republic of Korea, in 2011.

Ramsar Reports on Seychelles Atoll Supported by Solar Energy [viewed]

25 July 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) has reported on a project that is providing off-grid renewable energy to the Aldabra Atoll, a Ramsar and World Heritage Site in Seychelles. The Atoll used to rely on diesel fuel shipped to the island.

CAFF to Cooperate With AEWA, Ramsar on Arctic Biodiversity Conservation [viewed]

Ramsar COP 11 Renews IUCN as Secretariat Host [viewed]

13 July 2012: The 11th Meeting of the Conference of Contracting Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) was held from 6-13 July 2012, in Bucharest, Romania, under the theme “Wetlands: Home and Destination.” The main debate during COP 11 was over the institutional hosting of the Secretariat, and after intense negotiations the COP decided to renew confidence in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as host.

Ramsar, JICA Strengthen Their Cooperation [viewed]

12 July 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) during the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Ramsar Convention, to provide a framework for future cooperation.
