14 June 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), together with 17 multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), has launched a new webportal, titled "InforMEA," that draws information from the MEAs' individual websites to permit a user to search for information related to decisions and resolutions, news and events, meeting calendars, and national focal points across all of the participating MEAs.

3 June 2011: The Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Three Rainforest Basins, namely the Amazon, Congo, and Borneo-Mekong basins, took place in Brazzaville, Congo, from 27 May-3 June 2011, to establish new ways to increase technical cooperation on forest matters, and adopted a joint statement on tropical forests, climate and sustainable development.

16 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for April 2011, which indicates that the Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions has formalized the terms of reference of modus operandi of the group, identified joint high-level activities for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) as well as the 20th anniversary of the Conventions in 2012, and agreed on new and revised joint publications on climate change adaptation, forests and gender.

4 April 2011: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has informed parties to the CBD and to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety that the GEF is making available expanded and expedited access to funding for enabling activities, including national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs), and national reports under the CBD and the Biosafety Protocol.

The UNFCCC Secretariat has informed parties, observer States and observer organizations that the first meeting of the Transitional Committee for the design of the Green Climate Fund (decision 1/CP.16, paragraph 110) originally scheduled to be held on 14-15 March 2011, in Mexico City, Mexico has been postponed until the latter part of April 2011.

The GEF Central Africa Region Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) will bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from GEF agencies. The purpose of the meeting is to keep these stakeholders abreast of GEF strategies, policies and procedures and to encourage coordination. The ECW will include participants from Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe.
