EAS Congress Discusses Building a Blue Economy, Sea Governance [viewed]
July 2012: The 2012 East Asian Seas Congress took place in Changwon City, Republic of Korea, with a focus on building a "blue economy" in the region. It addressed, in particular, progress in the governance of regional/sub-regional seas within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA). The Congress included the Fourth Ministerial Forum, an Exhibition, an East Asian Seas Partnership Council Meeting, and a PEMSEA Network of Local Governments Forum.
9 August 2012: UN agencies addressed the theme “Indigenous Media, Empowering Indigenous Voices” at an event marking the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on 9 August 2012, at UN Headquarters in New York, US. 
2 August 2012: The UN Indigenous Peoples Partnership (UNIPP) has made available its five-year program framework, titled “United Nations Indigenous Peoples Partnership: Strategic Framework 2011-2015," which outlines UNIPP's thematic areas of focus for the realization of indigenous peoples' rights. It has also published a brochure describing the genesis, governance and guiding principles of UNIPP and its Multi-Partner Trust Fund.
26 July 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Asia-Pacific Regional Centre (APRC) has released a report highlighting the importance of indigenous peoples' voice and participation in the governance of sustainable development. 
19 July 2012: The UN Collaborative Programme on REDD's (UN-REDD) July Newsletter reports on the third meeting and workshop of the REDD+ Partnership in 2012, which was held in Santa Marta, Columbia, from 1-2 July 2012.
12 July 2012: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) presented the results of a Small Grants Programme (SGP) project to promote organic farming practices for the elimination of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and biodiversity conservation in selected rural and urban communities in Zimbabwe.
27 June 2012: The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) gathered seven national financial institutions participating in the Central American Markets for Biodiversity (CAMBio) project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), to exchange examples of success in financing biodiversity-friendly commercial initiatives.
13 June 2012: The Executive Board of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) released a draft sub-regional programme document for the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) for 2013 to 2017. The programme includes support for accelerated action toward the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including on climate change, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and environmental management activities.
