This training course is being organized by the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO) with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. It is being held at the Wadden Sea Biosphere Reserve of Schleswig – Holstein, Germany, and will have an emphasis on coastal tourism. The course is aimed at national and local authorities, the private tourism sector and NGOs involved in biodiversity and tourism. Training modules will provide a thorough understanding of the CBD “Guidelines on Biodiversity and Tourism Development” among other topics.

19 October 2012: The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), together with the Government of Tanzania, convened the First Pan-African Conference on Sustainable Tourism in African National Parks, from 15-18 October, in Arusha, Tanzania. Attended by tourism ministers, representatives of the private sector, and conservation officials, the Conference adopted the Arusha Declaration.
