UNECE Releases First Review of Turkmenistan's Environmental Performance [viewed]

UNECE Releases Second Environmental Performance Review of Tajikistan [viewed]

UNECE14 December 2012: The "Second Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of Tajikistan" conducted by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) highlights that waste management and clean water and sanitation remain challenges for this country. UNECE EPRs cover ten elements including: environmental policymaking, planning and implementation; financing of environmental policies; waste and water management; biodiversity conservation; and integration of environmental issues into energy and health policies.

Event: European Forest Week [viewed]

The week will be celebrated under the theme "Forests, their products and services," and will focus on the contribution of forests to the green economy. The main celebrations will be centred on Metsä 2013, the joint meeting of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Timber Committee and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) European Forestry Commission. Additional events will be held throughout Europe.

ESCAP Publishes Asia-Pacific Statistical Yearbook [viewed]

6 November 2012: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has published its “Statistical Yearbook for Asia and the Pacific 2012.”  The Yearbook features country profiles with selected statistical indicators, tables and charts for the 58 regional and associate members of ESCAP. It highlights Asia-Pacific gains in economic growth, poverty reduction and child survival while also noting wide development gaps, particularly in gender equality and health care.

Event: The LVIV Forum on Forests in a Green Economy [viewed]

ECLAC, UN-Water Release Report on Water and Green Economy in LAC [viewed]
