September 2010: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) has released a report that compares regional cooperation opportunities and trends at the subnational, national, subregional and regional, providing policymakers and planners with information to stimulate regional cooperation and to support Arab countries in their efforts to achieve the MDGs.
1 July 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has released a report titled "Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with equality in Latin America and the Caribbean. Progress and challenges."
June 2010: Silva Mediterranea, a statutory body of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) covering the Mediterranean region, released a special issue of its Newsletter focusing on the recent activities of its Enlarged Executive Committee, including participation in the first Mediterranean Forest Week and preparation of various position papers on food security in the region.
30 April 2010: The 35th Session of the European Forestry Commission (ECE) met from 27-29 April 2010, in Lisbon, Portugal, to discuss European forests' central role in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
23 April 2010:The People's World Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth convened in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from 19-22 April 2010. An initiative of Bolivian President Evo Morales, the Conference provided a forum to discuss the structural and systemic causes of climate change and propose substantive measures that facilitate the well-being of mankind in harmony with nature.
30 March 2010: The “Weekly” newsletter of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), for the period 29 March-2 April 2010, reports on the meeting of the Extended Bureau of the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy, which approved guidelines on air quality monitoring and furthered preparations for the seventh Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe.”
This three-day event will focus on the challenges related to urban planning, infrastructure financing, public housing, waste management, urban biodiversity and climate change. Participants will discuss how to mitigate risks and build inclusive and harmonious cities. Partners of the Summit include the Asian Development Bank (ADB), UN-Habitat, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
12 March 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have begun collecting data on the state of forests and forest management in Europe. Data will be collected from 46 countries in the European region, and will include information on forest health and vitality, productive and protective functions, biodiversity and social and economic dimensions of forest management.
