CTI-CFF Countries Note Marine Management Progress, Take Steps to Establish Regional Secretariat [viewed]

Coral Triangle Initiative31 March 2014: The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) member countries describe “modest indications” of positive changes in ecological and social conditions in CTI sites, according to the findings of a study conducted by researchers from the University of Washington. In addition, Indonesia, the Philippines and Timor-Leste have taken steps towards ratification of the Agreement for the establishment of the permanent CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat.

EU-Africa Summit Outlines Actions on Peace and Security, Prosperity and People [viewed]

4th European Union EU-Africa Summit4 April 2014: Delegates to the Fourth EU-Africa Summit agreed on a Declaration outlining commitments on peace and security, prosperity and people. Leaders also adopted a declaration on migration and mobility, and a road map to frame EU-Africa relations in 2014-2017. The EU committed to provide more than €28 billion to Africa through bilateral cooperation.

UNESCO Launches Ocean Acidification Website [viewed]

Unesco1 April 2014: Ocean acidification impacts are occurring across the globe, from small islands to large continents and from the tropics to the poles, according to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). UNESCO and its partners have launched a website that brings together information on ocean acidification, which is also described as the "other carbon dioxide problem."
