CBD Executive Secretary Briefs UN Secretary-General on Links between Biodiversity and Sustainable Development [viewed]
7 February 2013: In a working visit to UN Headquarters in New York, US, from 14-16 January 2013, Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), briefed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the major outcomes of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the CBD, underlining the importance of these decisions for the sustainable development agenda.
7 February 2013: In an effort to boost food and nutrition security of the poor, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) has launched two ten-year research programmes with combined three-year budgets of US $225 million to improve food security in the drylands. 
6 December 2012: The Congo Basin Forest Partnership project TRIDOM met from 5-6 December 2012, in Doula, Cameroon, to discuss stepping up anti-poaching efforts in 2013. TRIDOM refers to the transborder complex of protected areas in the countries of Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and Gabon. 
2 February 2013: The February 2013 issue of the "Micronesia Challenge Newsletter," published by the Micronesia Challenge Secretariat, highlights recent support for the Awareness Campaign for Sustainable Management of the Tafunsak Marine Protected Area Project in Kosrae. It also spotlights the outcomes of a Micronesian Challenge Communications workshop, which convened in Guam.
1 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have signed an agreement to establish the International Ecosystem Management Partnership of UNEP (UNEP-IEMP), a global center located in Beijing and aimed at promoting ecosystem management in developing countries.
24 January 2013: The 6th EU-Brazil Summit discussed a range of issues for cooperation between the EU and Brazil, including the outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and the Doha Climate Change Conference, as well as renewal of the EU-Brazil strategic partnership.
January 2013: The European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR) has released the Steering Committee Report from its 13th Meeting, during which participants discussed the transition of the ECPGR program to its next phase (2014-2018)
25 January 2013: The Republic of Congo and the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) convened the third General Assembly of the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC).
