Event: Global Ocean Action Summit [viewed]
The Global Ocean Action Summit, organized by the Government of the Netherlands and the World Bank, is meant to "seal major deals for worldwide action" addressing the threats to the health and productivity of oceans. The meeting aims to mobilize financial and technical support for attaining established goals under the Global Partnership for Oceans (GPO). It will also host the first official assembly of GPO partners, and will mark the implementation phase of the GPO. In addition, a report indicating priority areas and regions for action will be launched by the GPO Blue Ribbon Panel, an independent group of ocean experts. Attendance is by invitation only.
25 March 2013: Bioversity International has published "Diversifying Diets: Using Agricultural Biodiversity to Improve Nutrition and Food Security," which explores the current state of knowledge on the role of agricultural biodiversity in diet, nutrition and food security, with a focus on key research, implementation gaps and strategies for improving nutrition. 
25 March 2013: A briefing for UN Member States on preparations for the tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10) was held at UN Headquarters in New York. The briefing covered logistical and program information for delegations to the meeting, which will be held 8-19 April 2013, in Istanbul, Turkey. 
23 March 2013: Representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments and the private sector met at the UNFCCC Technical Workshop on Ecosystem-based Approaches (EbA) for Adaptation to Climate Change. Addressing participants, UNFCCC Deputy Executive Secretary Richard Kinley provided an update on recent developments in the intergovernmental process on climate change, and highlighted relevant aspects relating to the work on adaptation to climate change.
March 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a series of videos on forests in Algeria, Tanzania and the Mediterranean region in celebration of the first International Day of Forests, held 21 March 2013.
22 March 2013: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has announced a partnership with the Korean Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST). The new partnership will involve research on marine pollution, biodiversity and ocean acidification.
21 March 2013: The first Environment Council of the European Commission under the Irish Presidency, held on 21 March 2013, included policy debates on: the European Commission's proposal to minimize the climate change impacts of biofuels; proposed changes to the directive on environmental impact assessments; and access and benefit sharing of genetic resources.
21 March 2013: The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity Business Coalition (TEEB for Business) has released a report on behavior change motivations for natural capital management (NCM), titled "Organisational Change for NCM: Strategy and Implementation." Based on data from 26 companies, the study identifies the availability of freshwater, renewable energy, climate regulation, fiber and food as the most important natural capital risks over the next 3-5 years.
