Event: Equator Prize Award Ceremony [viewed]

The Equator Prize is awarded biannually to recognize and advance local sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities. As local and indigenous groups across the world chart a path towards sustainable development, the Equator Prize spotlights 25 local initiatives by honoring them on an international stage. The event, hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), will include a special musical performance by Gilberto Gil, and will take place on the sidelines fo the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Event: The Landscape: Transformative Action through Cross-Sectoral Coordination [viewed]

This High-Level Side Event to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) is hosted by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF). Leaders of the member organizations of the CPF, including the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), as well as forest Ministers from the Gambia and Republic of Korea, will discuss landscape mosaics and integrating people and forests, and integrating forests into landscapes at the country level.

13 June 2012: The Rio Conventions Pavilion (RCP) opened on 13 June 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in parallel with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The Pavilion began with an event presented by the International Institute for Sustainable Development Reporting Services (IISD RS) on “Roads from Rio,” followed with a reception sponsored by the Rio Conventions (the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Event: Messages from the Copenhagen Business Dialogue on Access and Benefit Sharing: Challenges and Opportunities of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS in the Context of Green Economy [viewed]

This side event will be held during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and is being co-organized by the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Capacity Development Initiative and the Confederation of Danish Industry. The aim of the event is to deliver messages from the ABS business dialogue which was held two weeks before Rio +20, during which participants formulated messages on how to effectively implement the Nagoya Protocol and how different business models can contribute to it.
