This workshop has been initiated by the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) of the League of Arab States and is co-organized by the UNEP Regional Office for West Asia and the CBD Secretariat. Funding institutions and development agencies active in the Arab region are expected to attend, with a view to considering and elaborating an Arab Programme on Biodiversity and Finance up to 2020. The workshop results will be presented to environment ministers at the annual meeting of CAMRE.
