27 September 2010: The German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) has announced it will fund the "Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region" programme. GTZ allocated an additional EUR 10 million to the existing South Pacific Community (SPC)/GTZ Adaptation to Climate Change in the Pacific Islands Region programme, which brings the total financing to EUR 14.2 million and supports the programme until 2015.

23 September 2010: The Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) hosted a breakfast on 22 September 2010, in New York, US, to celebrate “island leadership” and cooperation on issues facing small island developing States (SIDS). The partnerships highlighted during the event were the Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) and the Small Island Developing States Network (SIDSNet).

As called for at the first PrepCom of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, also called Rio+20), three intersessional meetings will be convened, in addition to three PrepComs, to prepare for the June 2012 UNCSD event. Intersessional III is scheduled for 26-27 March 2012.
