SDSN Experts Propose Goals and Targets in Seven Themes [viewed]

unsdsn18 September 2013: The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has launched reports from seven of its 12 Thematic Groups, to help inform the post-2015 development agenda. Each report was prepared by a panel of experts and academics. The reports focus on: forests, oceans, biodiversity and ecosystems; human rights and gender equality; good governance of extractive resources; sustainable urban development; education; health; and sustainable agriculture.

Event: Eighth Meeting of the Open Working Group on SDGs (OWG 8) [viewed]

The eighth session of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will take place from 3-7 February 2014, in New York, US. OWG 8 is expected to discuss: Oceans and seas, forests, biodiversity (2 days); Promoting equality, including social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment (1.5 days); and Conflict prevention, post-conflict peacebuilding and the promotion of durable peace, rule of law and governance (1.5 days).

2013 MDG Report Highlights Progress and Areas for Accelerated Action [viewed]

mdg2013-report1 July 2013: The 2013 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Report recognizes “substantial progress” in meeting many MDG targets while also urging nations to accelerate efforts to achieve unmet MDGs by the 2015 deadline. The report examines areas in which action is most needed, including on environmental sustainability, and highlights unequal progress, with disparities among regions and between rural and urban populations, population groups within countries, and men and women.
