GLIPSA10 December 2012: The latest issue of the Global Island Partnership's (GLISPA) "Event Spotlight" features two events that took place on 16 October 2012 in Hyderabad, India, on the sidelines of the 11th meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). African Workshop Addresses Integration of CMS, CITES Objectives into NBSAPs [viewed]

CEE Releases Outcome Document on Education for Biodiversity [viewed]

November 2012: The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) has released an Outcome Document on Education and Biodiversity Conservation, which was adopted at the International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The Document outlines recommendations on an ESD strategic plan of action within the context of biodiversity conservation and sustainability.

Event: Information Sharing Event on the CBD Nagoya Protocol on ABS [viewed]

Held immediately before the meeting of the Inter-Agency Support Group on Indigenous Peoples' Issues, this event will focus on the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of the Benefits Arising from their Utilization and its provisions of particular relevance to indigenous and local communities.

Ministers Stress Awareness, Education to Achieve Aichi Targets [viewed]

8 November 2012: A number of ministers identified education as a key driver in achieving the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Aichi Targets for Biodiversity, on the sidelines of the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the CBD in Hyderabad, India. These ministers highlighted biodiversity awareness-raising activities and education as critical tools for producing concrete solutions to biodiversity challenges.

Event: CBD COP 12 [viewed]

The twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will engage in a mid-term review of the implementation of the Strategic Plan and the Aichi targets. The theme of the meeting will be 'Biodiversity for Sustainable Development.' The Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP MOP 7) will take place immediately before COP 12.

CBD "Square Brackets" Newsletter Focuses on Aichi Targets [viewed]

October 2012: The seventh issue of [square brackets], the newsletter on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and civil society, has been made available online. With a special focus on the Aichi biodiversity targets, this issue features the perspectives of the Heads of five agencies that are members of the Aichi Biodiversity Targets Task Force, and of the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
