CBD-Funded Research Finds Biodiversity Finance Could Reach US$160 Billion [viewed]

5 June 2012: Finance for biodiversity could be scaled up from around US$52 billion in 2010 to as high as nearly US$160 billion by 2020, if the public and private sectors work together to implement a range of financing approaches, concludes the new "Little Biodiversity Finance Book." The book has been published by the Global Canopy Programme on the basis of research funded by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

Botanic Gardens Launch Ecological Restoration Alliance [viewed]

21 May 2012: Responding to the Aichi Target that calls for restoring at least 15% of the world's damaged ecosystems by 2020, adopted in the framework of the Strategic Plan 2011-2020 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), botanic gardens around the world have formed the Ecological Restoration Alliance, which plans to restore 100 damaged, degraded or destroyed ecosystems.

Event: CBD Capacity-building Workshop on the GTI to Address IAS and to Achieve Aichi Biodiversity Targets in East and South East Asia [viewed]

AEWA MOP 5 Adopts 27 Resolutions [viewed]

20 May 2012: Delegates at the fifth Meeting of the Parties (MOP 5) to the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) discussed, among other things: implementation of the Agreement and Action Plan; international reviews; the International Implementation Tasks 2009-2016; the African-Eurasian Flyways Global Environment Facility (GEF) Project; and implementation and revision of the communication strategy.
