16 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for April 2011, which indicates that the Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions has formalized the terms of reference of modus operandi of the group, identified joint high-level activities for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) as well as the 20th anniversary of the Conventions in 2012, and agreed on new and revised joint publications on climate change adaptation, forests and gender.

9 May 2011: A regional capacity-building workshop for the updating and revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) for Eastern African countries will be held from 27-30 June 2011, in Kigali, Rwanda. The workshop is organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in collaboration with the Rwanda Environment Management Authority. Its purpose is to: strengthen national capacities for the development, implementation, review, updating and communication of national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs); help facilitate national implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020; and translate the Strategic Plan into national targets and commitments.
