CBD Eastern Europe Workshop Focuses on Biodiversity and Finance [viewed]

28 March 2011: The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has organized a workshop for the Eastern European region on the national and regional implications of the Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS). The workshop took place on 25 March 2011, in Kiev, Ukraine.

IPPC Agrees Strategic Objectives, Will Continue Work on Strategic Framework for 2012-2019 [viewed]

CBD Seeks Nominations for West Africa Workshops [viewed]

23 March 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is accepting nominations of participants for two capacity-building workshops for West Africa, taking place in Dakar, Senegal, from 22-26 May 2011. One of the parallel workshops will focus on implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA), and the other will address updating and revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) for West African countries.

14 March 2011: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is funding the second phase of the Amazon Region Protected Areas Project (ARPA), further to a successful first phase that allowed the designation of 24 million hectares as new protected areas and consolidated or established management and enforcement systems for over eight million hectares of the new protected areas.
