20 July 2011: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has published "Crossing Borders for Nature: European examples of transboundary conservation" as part of a project led by IUCN and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) aiming to improve transboundary conservation in the mountainous border zone between Albania, Macedonia and the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
18 July 2011: The UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) Secretariat has launched a "Forest Heroes" Programme and Awards to recognize and honor everyday people who are committed to sustaining forests and actively promoting forest values.
13 July 2011: The second meeting of the Caribbean Wetlands Initiative discussed the region's implementation of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention), and resulted in agreement on activities and material to be presented and disseminated during the upcoming Pan-American meeting and the 11th meeting of the contracting parties (COP 11) to the Ramsar Convention.
13 July 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is inviting stakeholders to participate in an e-survey on how to organize international interdisciplinary scientific advice to the UNCCD.

10 July 2011: The UN and Nippon Foundation of Japan have announced a fellowship programme enabling ocean-focused government officials and mid-level professionals from developing countries to receive advanced education and training in ocean affairs and the law of the sea, so they can assist their governments in formulating comprehensive ocean policy and implementing the legal regime set out in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and related instruments.
