25 February 2013: The Regional Great Lakes Forum on Freshwater Ecosystems brought together 75 representatives of governments, civil society and the private sector, as well as experts in freshwater services in the Great Lakes region, who expressed their concern over the scattered management of freshwater ecosystems across the region and called for addressing the threats affecting freshwater services.
28 February 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has reported that countries have adopted the Voluntary Guidelines for Flag State Performance, thereby contributing to efforts to address illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU). The guidelines were adopted following five years of consensus-building among FAO member countries.
28 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with ProNaturaleza, the Peruvian Foundation for the Nature Conservancy, and financed by German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), has released a report titled “BioTrade: A catalyst for transitioning to a green economy in Peru.” The report suggests that BioTrade in Peru has the potential to provide 250,000 new jobs over the next decade.
28 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the Government of Nepal and financed by German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), has released a report titled “BioTrade: Harnessing the potential for transitioning to a green economy - The Case of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Nepal.” The report suggests that the growing global demand for medicinal and aromatic plants could help drive Nepal's green economy, as well as improve livelihoods in its poorest communities.

26 February 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has announced that Lebanon joined the Convention, becoming its 178th member.
25 February 2013: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has launched the South Pacific Ocean Ecosystem Analysis project (PACIOCEA), which aims to enhance local and regional capacity for improving conservation and sustainable ocean management through marine spatial planning.
