IISD Publishes Reports on Adaptation Strategies in Kenya, Niger and Uganda [viewed]
January 2013: The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) has published three reports on climate risk management (CRM) in Kenya, Niger and Uganda, as part of the UN Development Programme's (UNDP) Climate Risk Management (CRM) Technical Assistance Support Project (TASP). The reports illustrate how different communities in high-risk countries may have to adapt to a changing climate across a range of sectors.
22 February 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has called for the submission of information on components, organisms and products resulting from synthetic biology techniques, as well as for proposals for new and emerging issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
23 February 2013: More than 50 side and social events will be hosted on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP16). Topics covered will include transnational wildlife crime, elephants, rhinos, saiga antelopes, sharks and manta rays, geckos, and snow leopards. 
February 2013: A new book published by the United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) includes case studies on biodiversity and traditional knowledge provided by several Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs), which highlight the way traditional and indigenous knowledge on biodiversity is increasingly recognized in a variety of social, cultural, economic and environmental contexts, and further demonstrates the links between biological and cultural diversity.
January 2013: The Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA) of Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released the report of the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA), held from 14-16 November 2012, in Rome, Italy. The Working Group's recommendations will be considered by the CGRFA at its 14th meeting, to be held from 15-19 April 2013, in Rome, Italy.
21 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released the Third African Environment Outlook (AEO-3) Summary for Policy Makers, commissioned by the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN). The report focuses on the links between environment and health, and includes subsections on: air quality; biodiversity; chemicals and waste; climate change and variability; coastal and marine resources; freshwater and sanitation; and land.
16 February 2013: Representatives from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the International Council for Exploration of the Sea, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have presented their work to scientists, experts, educators and media at a one-day conference on “Stress, Sustainability and Development of Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) during Climate Change.”
5 February 2013: An evaluation conducted by the Internal Evaluation Group (IEG) of the World Bank Group (WBG) gives mixed marks to the Bank's performance on the three objectives related to conservation, poverty alleviation and economic development set forth in its 2002 Forest Strategy.
19 February 2013: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in collaboration with the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), and the Cameroon Association of Research on Biodiversity and Development (ACBIODEV), has released a publication titled "Making a living with forest insects: beetles as an income source in Southwest Cameroon."
