IISD Publishes Reports on Adaptation Strategies in Kenya, Niger and Uganda [viewed]

January 2013: The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) has published three reports on climate risk management (CRM) in Kenya, Niger and Uganda, as part of the UN Development Programme's (UNDP) Climate Risk Management (CRM) Technical Assistance Support Project (TASP). The reports illustrate how different communities in high-risk countries may have to adapt to a changing climate across a range of sectors.

CITES Announces Side Event Schedule for CoP16 [viewed]

23 February 2013: More than 50 side and social events will be hosted on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP16). Topics covered will include transnational wildlife crime, elephants, rhinos, saiga antelopes, sharks and manta rays, geckos, and snow leopards.

UNU Book Presents Case Studies on Traditional Knowledge and Biodiversity [viewed]

February 2013: A new book published by the United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) includes case studies on biodiversity and traditional knowledge provided by several Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs), which highlight the way traditional and indigenous knowledge on biodiversity is increasingly recognized in a variety of social, cultural, economic and environmental contexts, and further demonstrates the links between biological and cultural diversity.

CGRFA Releases Report of Sixth Technical Meeting on Plant Genetic Resources [viewed]

UNEP's AEO-3 Highlights Health Effects of Environmental Change [viewed]

21 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released the Third African Environment Outlook (AEO-3) Summary for Policy Makers, commissioned by the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN). The report focuses on the links between environment and health, and includes subsections on: air quality; biodiversity; chemicals and waste; climate change and variability; coastal and marine resources; freshwater and sanitation; and land.
