14 June 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has announced that the new listings of species and the 165 Decisions and 36 Resolutions adopted or revised at the 16th meeting of the CITES Conference of the Parties (CoP16), which convened in Bangkok in March 2013, entered into force on 12 June 2013.

6 June 2013: In an effort to help develop the sustainable production of oil from the seeds of Allanblackia species in equatorial Africa, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has engaged in a public-private partnership with Unilever and a collection of public non-profit organizations, called the Novella Africa Initiative. The partnership has developed a model for over 10,000 collectors or growers of Allanblackia to plant over 20,000 seedlings in Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania.

The Book assesses development and environment using over 50 indicators, including adjusted net savings (ANS), which aims to foster innovative ways of understanding sustainable development at the macroeconomic level, and to complement gross domestic product (GDP) measuring; both of which are key aspects of the post-2015 agenda.

This conference will be held around the theme 'Harnessing Ecosystem Based Approaches for Food Security and Adaptation to Climate Change in Africa'. It is convened by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and other UN agencies, governments, research institution, NGOs, scholars, donors, and local governments.
