Event: CBD Western South Pacific Regional Workshop to Facilitate the Description of Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas [viewed]

This workshop will be convened by the CBD Secretariat with financial support from the Government of Japan. Participants will seek to facilitate the description of ecologically or biologically significant marine areas through application of scientific criteria in annex I of COP Decision IX/20 as well as other relevant compatible and complementary nationally and intergovernmentally agreed scientific criteria, as well as the scientific guidance on the identification of marine areas beyond national jurisdiction, which meet the scientific criteria in annex I to Decision IX/20.

Paper Examines CBD Implementation in Hindu Kush-Himalayan Region [viewed]

July 2011: This paper looks at the progress made in the implementation of the CBD and 2010 targets in the eight countries of the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, Myanmar and Pakistan. The paper was commissioned by ICIMOD, an inter-governmental institution mandated for the region, as one of its activities in support of the CBD and the International Year of Biodiversity 2010.
