7 March 2013: The first global meeting of wildlife enforcement networks (WENs) met on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP 16) to strengthen regional enforcement capacity, coordination and response to wildlife crime.

6 March 2013: The Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP16) has released a report titled "Elephants in the Dust – The African Elephant Crisis," which highlights that populations of elephants in Africa continue to be under severe threat as the illegal trade in ivory grows.

3 March 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals announced that Saudi Arabia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU).
4 March 2013: A joint side-event by the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held on “The Saiga Antelope: Challenges and Opportunities for Conservation and Sustainable Use.”
28 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the Government of Nepal and financed by German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), has released a report titled “BioTrade: Harnessing the potential for transitioning to a green economy - The Case of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Nepal.” The report suggests that the growing global demand for medicinal and aromatic plants could help drive Nepal's green economy, as well as improve livelihoods in its poorest communities.
27 February 2013: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced that is providing nearly US$4.5 million in assistance to the Government of Indonesia to support conservation of threatened forest areas on Borneo.
26 February 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has announced that Lebanon joined the Convention, becoming its 178th member.
