Global Meeting of Wildlife Enforcement Networks Discusses Cooperation on Poaching and Illicit Trade [viewed]

EEA Releases Reports on Invasive Species [viewed]

EEA21 February 2013: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has released two reports on invasive species. The first, titled "The impacts of invasive alien species in Europe," discusses the effects and spread of some species. The second, titled "Invasive alien species indicators in Europe," looks at the methodology for collecting the data.

Event: Leadership Meeting on Environmental Sustainability in Post-2015 Development Agenda [viewed]

As part of the 11 Global Thematic Consultations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, this High-Level Meeting will bring together NGOs, the sponsoring governments, and participants from the UN, among others, to discuss and define recommendations on environmental sustainability in a future framework. This consultation is being co-led by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP), with support from the Governments of France and Costa Rica.

Event: Training on Tourism and Biodiversity: Understanding Tourism Trends and Biodiversity Conservation for Innovative Products and Marketing [viewed]

This training course is being organized by the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO) with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. It is being held at the Wadden Sea Biosphere Reserve of Schleswig – Holstein, Germany, and will have an emphasis on coastal tourism. The course is aimed at national and local authorities, the private tourism sector and NGOs involved in biodiversity and tourism. Training modules will provide a thorough understanding of the CBD “Guidelines on Biodiversity and Tourism Development” among other topics.

Arctic Environment Ministers Recommend Action on Short-Lived Climate Pollutants [viewed]

8 February 2013: Arctic Environment Ministers met in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, from 5-6 February 2013, to address the rapid environmental changes in the Arctic. They discussed climate change and ocean acidification, contamination in the Arctic, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem based management.

Norway to Support UNEP GRID-Arendal for Next 10 Years [viewed]
