The fifth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Informal Working Group to study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction will take place from 7-11 May 2012, in New York, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 66/231 of 24 December 2011, paragraph 168.

The fourth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation (WGRI 4) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is organized by the CBD Secretariat.

The 11th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), which will convene in New York from 7-18 May 2012, will consider the special theme of "The Doctrine of Discovery: its enduring impact on indigenous peoples and the right to redress for past conquests (articles 28 and 37 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples)".
