CBD Regional Workshop for the Pacific on Updating NBSAPs

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Government of New Zealand, this workshop aims to address issues that countries in the region may have encountered or will encounter while updating their national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs), with a focus on target setting, stakeholder engagement and the development of country-specific plans for mobilizing financial resources for the implementation of NBSAPs.

International Day of the World's Indigenous People 2012

The 18th commemoration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples will be held at UN Headquarters in New York. The event will include an interactive dialogue “Indigenous Media, Empowering Indigenous Voices” and will showcase short clips and videos. The Day will be organized by the Secretariat of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues DSPD/DESA, the United Nations Department of Public Information, and the NGO Committee on the Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

Meeting of Nairobi Convention National Focal Points

In partnership with the Government of Mozambique, the Nairobi Convention is organizing this meeting to discuss the implementation of the Nairobi Convention's Work Programme and preparations for the Seventh Conference of Parties (COP7) to the Nairobi Convention, scheduled to be held in December 2012. The Nairobi Convention area includes: Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania and South Africa.
