Technical Advisory Group Established for CMS Pacific Cetacean MoU

25 May 2011: The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) announced the establishment of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the CMS Pacific Cetacean Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The CMS Secretariat explained that the TAG is designed to assist signatories with all scientific issues relating to cetacean conservation in the region, including the review of CMS-related documents and requirements, such as editing and updating the species' record. Initial tasks for the TAG will include preparation of a summary of cetacean information on behalf of the signatories, to submit at the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to CMS in November 2011, in Bergen, Norway.

The TAG is comprised of nine experts, nominated by the MoU signatories: Scott Baker; Laura Boren; Simon Childerhouse; Louise Chilvers; Rochelle Constantine; Peter Komidar; Michael Noad; Marc Orimus; and Margi Prideaux. [CMS Press Release] [Biographies of TAG Experts] [Text of MoU]
